Installeer en activeer je eSIM op iPhone en Android
Follow this guide to install and activate your eSIM on iPhone or Android. You can use a QR code from your confirmation email or enter the details manually. Your data plan starts when you connect at your destination.
What you need
- An iPhone or Android phone that supports eSIM
- A stable internet connection (Wi‑Fi or mobile data)
- The QR code or activation details from your VakanSIM confirmation email
- Up-to-date iOS or Android software
- A device that is not carrier-locked
Install eSIM on iPhone
You can install your eSIM using the QR code from your email or via the camera. Follow these steps:
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap Cellular (or Mobile Data).
- Tap Add eSIM (or Add Cellular Plan).
- Select Use QR code and scan the QR code from your confirmation email (have it open on another device or print it). Alternatively, on iOS 17.4 or later you can long-press the QR code image and tap Add eSIM.
- Tap Continue when the plan appears and follow the on-screen steps.
- Give your eSIM a label (e.g. "VakanSIM" or "Travel") so you can recognise it later.
- Choose which line to use for Mobile Data and (optional) Default Voice Line and iMessage. For travel data, select your new eSIM for Mobile Data.
- Finish the setup. Your eSIM is installed and ready to activate at your destination.
Install eSIM on Android
On Android, the path may vary slightly by brand (Samsung, Google Pixel, etc.). In general:
- Open Settings.
- Go to Network & internet (or Connections on some devices).
- Tap SIMs (or Mobile network / SIM card manager).
- Select Add eSIM or Download a SIM instead.
- Choose Use QR code and scan the QR code from your VakanSIM confirmation email.
- Confirm the plan and give it a name (e.g. "VakanSIM" or "Travel").
- Set the new eSIM as the line for Mobile data when you want to use it.
- Your eSIM is installed and ready to activate at your destination.
Activate your eSIM
Your plan becomes active when you use it at your destination. To start using data:
- iPhone: Go to Settings → Cellular → select your eSIM (e.g. VakanSIM) → turn Data Roaming on.
- Android: Go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → select your eSIM → enable Data roaming for that SIM.
Once you land and your phone connects to a local network, your data allowance will start. You can install the eSIM before you travel and activate it when you arrive.
Manual installation
If you cannot scan the QR code, you can enter the activation details manually. In your VakanSIM email you will find an activation code (LPA/sm-DP+ or similar). Use it as follows:
- iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use activation code (or Enter details manually) → enter the code from your email.
- Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add eSIM → choose Enter code or Activation code and enter the code from your email.
The QR code can usually only be used once. Do not remove the eSIM from your device after installation, or you may not be able to use it again. If you need help, contact our support.
